St James Island Trip

Including nature watch and overnight stay

This trip includes an overnight stay at Albreta/ Juffereh Lodge. Albreta is a traditional fishing village here you can purchase fresh prawns at a low-price ideal for fishing at the lodge on your return (and eating of course.) This is the home of the famous captive ‘Kunta Kinta’ and, James Island is where the writer Alex Haley based his story ‘Roots. ‘on. You can also visit the museum and craft market. 

Trip itinerary  

1/ Breakfast at Jinack lodge 8:30, board boat at front of lodge.
2/ Sail approximately 20 miles, to Albreta Lodge, stopping en-route at several fishing hot spots.  
3/ Lunch is taken on boat en-route to Albreta Lodge, continue river fishing. 
4/Arrive Albreta Lodge 3:30 – 4:00, book in, have dinner, chill out, (occasionally to evening entertainment. 
5/ The return journey is the reverse of the outgoing journey, with fishing different locations as we return. 
6/ Arrive back at Jinack Lodge 3:30 – 4:30 and chill out  
7/ 7:00 – 7:30 have Dinner. 
Note: On the Gambian river trips, as we travel through the River Gambia, keep a look out for Dolphins, as they sometimes follow the boat (Dec – Jan) Also Hippos can be sighted further upriver.
